Bro Zuolun, which are the major SGX listed companies most negatively affected by the all time low of BDI? Do you see any trading opportunities of them? Is YZJ and NOL one of them but I see their price is still going strong. sptl123, I asked this same question b4 but abit different from yours. My version: "Which are the SGX-listed companies most negatively affected by the all time low of BDI yet their share prices did not collapse and the uptrend remains intact, instead." Normally buying uptrend stocks have better / higher chances to make good profits than buying downtrend stocks because you're trading with the major trend of the stock, not against it. zuolun, I see. That is the resistance level, I suppose. Thanks. What is your view on Samudera's TA and what is a good entry point? web, Once the immediate resistance @ S$0.28 is taken out, Samudera is likely to retest the last high @ S$0.30 and move higher. If you already know TA, you should know what price is a good entry point. BTW, SamuderaShipping and SingShipping are rare uptrend stocks in the shipping and ship-building industry, on my watchlist. SamuderaShipping ~ Bull Flag formation, biased on the upsideSingShipping ~ Trading in an upward sloping channel

Thanks Zuolun. Ya, I know a little TA, at the elementary level. Buy slightly above resistance and sell when the support is breached.

Thanks Zuolun. Ya, I know a little TA, at the elementary level. Buy slightly above resistance and sell when the support is breached. web, It depends on your risk appetite. I used to buy prior to the breakout point (during the consolidation) but now I changed my entry price / strategy. Buy after the bullish breakout with high volume (buy the dip or at pullback); that's a decisive confirmation / continuation of the bullish uptrend. 价钱的移动是庄弄的,还是投资者弄的你更要懂得看,搞错对象就会操错方向,方向错了,就没了...Technical Analysis on CAB and Yanlord — Price action and volumeCAB's long white candle (breakup with high volume) signaled a big mad crowd running into a house where someone inside is distributing gold bars, FOC. Yanlord's long black candle (breakdown with high volume) signaled a big mad crowd running out of a house which is on fire. Technical Analysis on Yanlord and SingPost — Price action and volumeYanlord's long black candle today signaled a big mad crowd running out of a house which is on fire now. SingPost's long white candle then signaled a big mad crowd running into a house where someone inside was distributing gold bars, FOC.

Hi Zuolun, Samudera has now surpassed the 52 week high but the volume is not very high. What is your view on this based on the TA?
I only have a small position in this, which I bought below 29 cents. I am happy to hold on to this for the next one to two quarters as I expect its results to continue to improve.

Zuolun, Thanks. Just have a modest position in Samudera. I bought because I anticipate its results to get even better. It is good that both FA and TA are good.

hi Bro web,
I have recently used my CPF investment account to purchase about 10 lots at 31.5 cents.
I was attracted by the dividend of 1.75 cents (payout on May 15) which work out to be slightly more than 5% based on my purchase price.
In your opinion, purely from viewpoint of FA, is it capable of delivering the dividend yield that will consistently exceed the 2.5% in CPF OA.
Thank you for your help.
Best Regards.

Dear Bro tt, Shipping is a highly cyclical industry, it is good to ride the up cycle as long as it lasts.
At present, Samudera is benefiting from low fuel price and strong US dollar against Singapore dollar. For FY14, its eps is 2.65 US cents and free cash flow per share is 7.66 US cents and the dividend it will pay out is only 1.75 Singapore cents. Its cash level rose from US$35.2m to US$52.3m while borrowing decreased from US$162.2m to US$136.4m
I believe it will deliver better results for the next quarter. But charter rates and freight rates are softening again and timing is everything for charter contracts. Hence, I will continue to monitor the situation. At some point, its profit will start to decline again.
Considering the above, Samudera is NOT a long term buy and hold dividend yield stock.

Yes, timing is everything! Chartwise, the best time to jump into SamuderaShipping was after the bullish breakout above S$0.28.
You bought Samudera Shipping shares below S$0.29 was at the right price and the right timing, for mid-term play. The latest gloomy shipping news will have -ve impact on the shipping industry across-the-board, SamuderaShipping ~ Bull Flag formation, biased on the upside

Dear zuolun, Thank you. I wish I have been able to spot the improvement in earning earlier. Only when my friend in the shipping industry told me that she had bought NOL because she expected NOL to turn around due to saving in fuel cost and restructuring, I began to take a look at the shipping counters. I did not follow her to invest in NOL but chose to invest in Samudera partly because I like the fundamental of Samudera better and partly because of your opinion on the TA of NOL.

Dear Bro Web and Bro Zuolun,
Thank you for the valuable insights from both the FA and TA perspectives.
Results for Q1 2015 has just been released.
As per what Bro Web has been expecting, Q1 2015 profit is significantly better than Q1 2014.
Hopefully the results can be maintained or improved over the next few quarters.

Yes, very good set of results indeed.
I tabulated the results on a quarter and quarter basis. The steady improvements in earning and cash flow are very visible.
