Olam has a giant monkey sitting still on it; it won't collapse no matter how strong the wind blows.

Temasek may be looking for longer team investment, thinking it is better to entrust a local entity rather than a entity somewhere in Africa for example like what China Investment Corporation (CIC) has done in the past. Then Temasek was busy buying up banks and CIC buying up commodity firms. At one stage, CIC was investing in energies but now, they concentrate on infrastructure development. It would appear that Temasek and GIC are always one step behind..It was not wise for them to sell away our power stations.. www.cnbc.com/id/101336731

A slight correction. I think the latter uses OPM to make money for himself. Whether the fund goes up or down, the fund manager will still take his commission for looking after the fund. He will take risks with OPM as he is incented to do so. After all, if the fund goes down, it is OPM. If the fund goes up, he can share in the upside in terms of more commissions. It makes sense for fund managers to take as much risks as possible. Hence, I don't put money in any funds.

Zuolun, good to have differences as it gives variety to life. But I don't think I am saying anything different.

Although I'm reluctant to pin-point exactly what I really want to stress but remember, in any deal-making, it's always the smart money creating smoke-screens one after another to fool the gullible masses. Ultimately, the main purpose of doing it is to make money, nothing else. BTW, I agreed that OLAM's chart pattern distinctly had showed unusual fast and furious price spike not supported by trading volumes, prior to the Temasek offer.

Agreed. What I was trying to point out is that smart money will take care of themselves. Smart money is not there to take care of you. If in the process, you happen to benefit from smart money coming in, pat yourself in the shoulder. Zuolun, good to have differences as it gives variety to life.
