Ha ha. I too read brokers' reports for its 'content' rather than its price recommendations. Content to me is the additional information that the broker's report contain with regards to the fundamentals. Similarly, I read magazine reports with the same amount of caution as I am aware of the amount of 'company marketing' that usually accompanies such reports. Do also be aware that some online 'information' websites are partly or indirectly owned by public relations companies as well. Guess this is the way the media works.... I scratch your back, you scratch mine. Nothing kinky OK?

Zuolun, your Situation Analysis is part of my fundamental analysis. One additional important analysis that I always do before I buy or sell is the supply and demand analysis. One day, I will write about this.

RH PetroGas reminds me of Oceanus. Follow analyst's review/call/chart blindly and lose money in the stock market:Question: What happened to Oceanus's share price after UOB-KH's TECHNICAL BUY CALL TP S$0.07 on 3 Oct 2012? Answer: It collapsed > 50% in one month's time; Oceanus hit low of 0.025 and closed @ 0.029 (+0.002,+7.4%) on 2 Nov 2012.

Based on the rectangle breakout @ S$0.56 in end-Sep 2013 to historical high of S$0.945 on 3rd Oct 2013; RH PetroGas's chart pattern is a typical bull-trap set up to trap the bulls. It hit low of S$0.525, high of 0.585 and traded @ 0.535 (-0.04,-7.0%) with 8.48m shares done on 19 Nov 2013 at 3.45pm. RH PetroGas — A huge bearish descending triangle breakout; interim TP S$0.48

What kind of crappy analyst is that? House did placement in oct; analyst issue bull report in Oct. Then in Nov, everything turned upside down as company issued profit warning. Did company officials ever warn the investors in Oct this was coming? The investors who took the shares are crappy too.

Analysts are paid by the broking houses and many a times, broking houses view listed companies as their potential clients (for placement, corporate work, etc). Hence, the way to read the analyst reports is to search for additional information that is not found elsewhere and then make your decision based on these and not on the direct recommendations made by the broking houses. Hence, don't blame the analysts ... they are only doing their jobs.
