McCool, it is nice to see another familiar nick. I am having fun, lots of fun. I think fun is a lot more important than passion. Everyone has passion when they start something new so this cannot be the key ingredient for success. I am having fun because I am letting this site develop on its own. There is no pressure to do anything but just to have fun and to do what is right. Lots of things I wanted to do with ShareInvestor but found it difficult when I had to take in investors as our objectives were not fully aligned. Now, there is no need for any investors and I can let the site develop on its own accord. Yes, I am interested in building a community beyond stocks and shares as I have lots of interests in many other areas as well. One life. Might as well do as much as I can in one life time. Hi Oldman You seem to have a passion to build networks and communities. Best regards McCool

Hi Oldman You seem to have a passion to build networks and communities. Best regards McCool If I may summarise what you just said, stakeholders in an enterprise do impose limits to what one can do. Not forgetting that even at home, it is no different. That's what I found out after retirement and start spending more time at home. Its still a question of alignment.

Absolutely. Now I am free to dream again and no one can interfere with my dreams. So, I can dream bigger.... much bigger.

Absolutely. Now I am free to dream again and no one can interfere with my dreams. So, I can dream Bigger.... Much Bigger. Indeed it is a great feeling to dream. I dream of fulfilling my millionaire goal so I could have more financial bullets to contribute to society & simultaneously lead a comfortable lifestyle. Below are my personal favourites from the blog: The 16 Reasons Why It Is So Important To Follow Your Dreams1. The Secret of Living is GIVING, if you follow your dreams then you will have Something Worth SHARING With Others, Hope, Inspiration and a Meaning to Live, and that to me, is a great Contribution.
 3. There is a reason why as kids we loved magic and dreams. Stop chasing your dreams and you will forget how it feels to live hopeful and young.
9. Because you are NEVER Too Old to dream. AGE means nothing when we know What We WANT.

Lemonade, welcome to our little kampung! Nice to see another familiar nick. I hope this kampung remains small for as long as possible. Best days of SI were when we were small. I have learnt much from running SI. I made many mistakes along the way and hopefully, with the passing of age, I am more mellow and wiser. I have no desire to replicate SI simply because I think the business model of a financial portal is very tough. What I like to do instead is to build a community to discuss everything under the sun and then take it from here. Guess the good thing now is that I do not need to make this site into a business as I make my living from my investments and this is more a hobby site. If it develops into a business later, my intention is to ensure that all those who helped me along the way will be recognised for their efforts. I think it is unfair for an internet site to depend on its users for content and yet, not recognise its users for their contributions in the event the site becomes successful. Contributors will however have to trust me on how I will do this in the event the site becomes successful. Yes, it is easier for me to think this way as I am financially comfortable and have no real need for another business. When you reach this stage in your life, the sharing of success becomes so much more important than simply adding dollars to your account, which will mean less and less as the years go by. In the meantime, I hope that users will view this site as a place for them to store their information as collectively, the information stored will be more valuable than storing these individually as in the case of facebook or blogs. Welcome to Pertama.com! Hi Oldman, Nice to be here! Oldman is very well respected & will visit here more often! Hi Zuolun, Hope everything well on your side! Anyway, many are ban of brothers from TPG! The unwanted site that wanted to mimic oldman baby (SI) but never even come close! I'm still in SI, but lately there is too much personal issues that are of useless.

Good morning Oldman sir,
Nice to feel welcome to your domain!
I read some of your postings in both SI & here.
IN time, you should write a book about your life story. LKY have his! why not you also?
Reflections of your life for your kids & others.
I wait for your book.

Lemonade, it is more fun sharing my thoughts online than to write a book for a number of reasons. Firstly, one can continuously update his thoughts. Also, one can add my further thoughts easily... with a book, there is a deadline to add or change materials in the book. Moreover, my primary interest is simply to share freely and internet publishing allows me to do this immediately. With book publishing, you have to abide by the publisher's rules and if you self publish, you will have the headaches of inventories, marketing, publicity, etc. Moreover, the Singapore marketplace is really too small for any publisher to make good money from the effort. More of the time, its value is in its publicity rather than in any commissions that he can get. Some numbers for you. If you manage to sell 10,000 books at $20 and you get 10% commission, this works out to be about $20,000. The amount of time spent writing this book will far exceed the time value of money. By the way, 10,000 books sold in Singapore will make you a best seller easily. There are many much easier ways of making money! Good morning Oldman sir, Nice to feel welcome to your domain! I read some of your postings in both SI & here. IN time, you should write a book about your life story. LKY have his! why not you also? Reflections of your life for your kids & others. Hi Oldman,
SI lost touch with you and I couldn't find a single post after your selling!
It was your correct move I think, having to sold off your baby was a tough decision I bet?
BUT it was the deal one can ever come across at that time?
LOOK at our start up "Creative"...once was hot cake in dow jones during the time of Ipod!
IF joint venture with Apple, the story might not be so sad?
Time wait for NOBODY!! IF missed, you might not get the chance NO more?
I think you made it sir!
NOW, you are coming full circle? I hope we can learnt from your adventures & your life experience's! WHO can ask more from your sharing?
A book will be kept! NOT saying that cyber has no value, but I think a book will have the start to the present in chronological?
Your call in your life cycle & you are in full control!
Just my suggestion.
Didn't know about the details you highlighted.
Noted!

Thanks lemonade. I looked at SI more as an investment than as a business. It was already managed by a CEO and his team. Like every investment, there is a buy price and a sell price. One must not be emotional over any investment as frankly, few businesses can last even a lifetime, as you correctly pointed out. I still have dreams of creating a Berkshire Hathaway like company based in Singapore.... though my forte will be to invest in regional internet companies. Problem is that I am not rushed into doing anything and will take my time to build this. Pertama.com is just one part of the jigsaw. After I have achieved this dream, then writing another book will be more meaningful.

Our time on this earth is determined by the person upstairs. We should not worry about how long we have left as we will never know the answer to that question until it is too late. Instead, let's enjoy every day doing what we like doing the most. For me, it is always my family first, then my investments and my business.
