Forum is indeed an amazing arena that open my perspective in investing as well as life. It makes me realised that my self limiting belief is the main deterrent towards achieving greater heights in life. By converting the negative thought of I cannot to How can I do it, work miracle in boosting my mental health.

Do join us here. We talk about everything. Frankly, this was the direction I wanted to take SI. That was why SI came up with homepages but my idea was voted down. Then we saw the creation of facebook and social media. Now, I am free to dream and to take Pertama.com wherever I see fit.
I much prefer talking through the forums as one's posting can be read by many others. Much more efficient use of my time. I don't really like any form of one to one communications unless it is absolutely necessary.... messaging included. For me, I am always on the lookout for a star IT programmer...

Interestingly, I have been looking for a local IT developer for many months now and found it very difficult to get one. Recently, I put an advert in an international website and I am now flooded with tons of enthusiastic developers from all around the world - from India, Pakistan, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and even the US. They all have very solid qualifications and are certainly very hungry. Most likely, I will engage a few of these to take Pertama.com to the next level. Yes, it not easy managing these resources remotely and I am going to be busy once again but I know it is going to be fun. I think nothing beats the joy of building up another internet company that hopefully will be much much bigger.

Hi Oldman,
Thanks for the acceptance. I have been with SI forum for quite some time. The insights shared by yourself and other forumers (Believer, CSK, McCool, Silverbullet, Mossie, KindDoctor, etc..) on shares trading / investments are invaluable (Kept a file with old postings). Hopefully, this site will achieve the goals that you have set.

Welcome Pain to Pertama.com forums. I don't remember a nick by this name. Did you use another nick in SI? McCool is still in SI and I have met him in person a few times. Yes, I too miss Mossie. Searching through the internet, I think this is his blog: mosi-mosi.squarespace.com/As for Believer, KindDoctor and Silverbullet, I don't know where there are now, though it will be good to know how they are doing. Thanks for reminding me of those great old times where comradeship was so evident. I too hope that this site will remain small and manageable by one person as commercialisation of any site usually results in a change in the focus of the site. Hi Oldman, Thanks for the acceptance. Hi Oldman,
I have been using another nick(I think: gogetgold) in SI forum. Most of the time, I am 'lurking' at the background. Great and thanks for informing on Mossie's blog.
Earliest years with these guys were best whereby they shared selflessly their knowledge and experience in investment. The warmth and comradeship seen there were be missed.
Well, you have Pertama forum here and I believed it will be established with the kind of passion and comradeship seen for all investors and learners alike.

Dear oldman and fellow forum members, I stumbled upon this forum by chance. I have been a low-profile member of SI since 2004 and hardly patronized the SI forum. Nonetheless, I remember to have a few (friendly) exchanges with oldman at SI forum. I am still a WebPro member of SI today as the fundamental data provided there allows me to have a quick overview of the fundamental of the stock for screening purpose.
I finished reading oldman's book Your First Million: Making it in Stocks (2012 edition) recently and found his Facebook page when I started to Google his where about to satisfy my curiosity. The posts on his Facebook led me to this forum.
I have just finished reading this thread and found the post made by candy188 on the folly of his ex-remisier and his/her own personal experience most enlightening.
I tried to practice value investing and have managed to reap good absolute return for 2013 and 2014. Before 2013 I invested only small amount of money and did not track my return, which I believe is good in percentage term but has little impact on my wealth.
I still see myself as a beginner in stock investment and reading oldman’s book reminded me that I made money for the last few years because of the extended bull-run and not because I am a superb investor. With bull being running for close to 6 years since February 2009, I should be more wary of the downturn, margin of safety and capital preservation.
I will lay low again but will continue to read the posts and post occasionally.

Web, welcome to Pertama forums. One of the key reasons I created this forum is to ensure that I am able to speak frankly. Problem with a commercial forum is that one has to be careful not to upset the sponsors. In SI, we had lots of sponsors from listed companies, to PR firms to broking houses and advertisers. In Pertama forums, I am the only sponsor. When you have time, do also visit my homepages as I continue to share more thoughts on investing there: pertama.freeforums.net/board/22/oldmanAlso, do note that SGX now provides very good fundamental data. Do look at their StockFacts pages: www.sgx.com/wps/portal/sgxweb/home/company_disclosure/stockfactsDear oldman and fellow forum members, I stumbled upon this forum by chance. I'm relatively new to the forum as well, and have already benefited tremendously from the sharings. Although I don't post much, I read the postings every other day or so to keep track of things. Am very grateful to all who shared their experiences, from the markets to health issues and insurance to interesting and funny videos. Also appreciate that one of the founding reasons for the forum is the privilege to speak honestly.
Yup, I really like the relatively new SGX StockFacts screener. Not perfect but has a good, easy to use interface; should check it out if anyone hasn't.

Thank you oldman.
I made a mistake. Your book Your First Million: Making it in Stocks that I read was the 2009 (1st edition) and not the 2012 (revised edition).
I have been hunting high and low to find a copy of the 2012 edition from NLB and 2nd hand bookstores but to no avail. Even the 1st edition was not easy to find from the NLB because on a few of occasions they were listed as available but I simply could not locate them in the library. I finally found a copy of the 2009 edition at Bukit Batok Library. When I tried to find the 2012 edition, I found another copy of the 2009 edition at the Queenstown library. The NLB online catalogue does not seem to differentiate the 1st and 2nd edition and list them as 2012 edition.
If any kind soul knows where to find a copy of the 2012 edition, please let me know. I am keen to buy or lend a copy.
PS: After my post, I found out that the 2012 edition is still available from Kinokuniya Singapore and has asked them to reserve a copy for me.
