Life is full of fun when you learn new things all the time. We have to keep our minds active and I simply love what I do... which is toying with everything I can lay my hands on! Also, by being hands on, it helps me understand the technologies better. Hence, you will not see me investing in a CCTV company.... it is fair to say that at one time, I did look at a CCTV company listed here but after playing around with the cameras and recorders, I realised that it was becoming more of a commodity. Hence, I did not invest and fortunately so. Hi Oldman, you are an amazing hands-on millionaire (or perhaps billionaire). Besides investing strategies, you are sharing very practical tips to save the nitty gritty stuff. Maybe you could sub-contract your service to fellow forumers who are not technology savvy.

Was introduced to a fascinating and potentially powerful website/app by a colleague recently. Flightradar24 - a real-time flight tracking service for thousands of aircraft around the world. Apparently it got started in 2006 and is maintained by flight-tracking/aviation hobbyists (colleague is a hobbyist himself). Planes equipped with ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) transponders are tracked and location information is fed and updated on the site. It's estimated around 70% of commercial planes use this relatively new ADS-B technology, and the number is growing. Went to play around on the website and found its interface easy to use and understand. One can select flights and look at flight details, trace flight paths etc. If you zoom in towards Ukraine's airspace, you can see quite clearly how planes are avoiding it with the apparent "hole" in the sky. Off the top of my head, I wonder if recent missing plane MH370 had such technology installed, or if it had then would the search for it be much easier? On a more humorous note, apparently the Malaysian PM wanted to keep a recreational/shopping trip to Italy private but was exposed by the site. Not sure why the government plane he used didn't disable public tracking as some of the identities and paths of planes are blocked for security reasons. Anyhow, just wanted to introduce this cool tool for those who have the time and interest. Screenshot of our skies at time of writing: Flight Radar 24 exposed Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s ‘private trip’ to Milan – “aeronautical evidence”
