People are easily conned; many are not used to doing businesses in China; especially, many naïve businessman are thinking that many Chinese businesses are good deals until they found they are rotten. My brother nearly parted with his money in the 90s when a Chinese introduced by his friend called him to join a tuition company in Wuhan. That time many wanted to learn English and computer science in China. My brother took trips to China and was shown classes being conducted which he thought was very impressive. He then discussed with us and of course, we objected. My sister-in-law then took a trip to China and went to the same classrooms where the tuitions were conducted and found them empty. My neighbor called my wife just about 1 month ago to ask where she could send SGD$10,000 to China quickly as her Godson from ShengYang was robbed in Shanghai and got no money to continue doing his business there. We cautioned her to call her Godson again to confirm. This time, she found that the voice from the other side did not sound like her Godson to which the other party on the line explained that he just had a cold. The conversation stopped there. These stories have been told many times and yet there are still people being conned.. here is one blog maintained by a US lawyer..
