Previously, I used to withdraw money from my fixed deposit account and then convert this to a cashier's order and then, a few days later, return the amount to my FD account. I do this because I read in the fine print of the advertisement that one needs to put in fresh funds to enjoy the promotional rates.
Today, I was in a UOB branch and a client representative told me that one need not go through all these trouble. All one needs to do is to inform them that you want to roll over the matured FD and start a new one. Apparently, UOB still views this as fresh funds if it comes from your FD. Great stuff... no need to move money from bank to bank!
