I do like the Garmin with the Malsing maps. Yes, I too cannot get the Garmin Singapore maps to load. Thanks for the info on renting maps!
What I like about the MalSing maps is that their wordings are bigger and easier to read. The driving instructions are also good. I was using Galactio on the older Garmins.
What is not so good about the MalSing maps is that it is not that easy to enter postal codes. One has to enter through Points of Intersts and not all postal codes work.

After using the MalSing maps for a few days, I realised that the Galactio maps are much better in terms of navigation. So, I have decided to switch back to the old Garmin with Galactio maps that I have repaired and keep this new Garmin as a backup instead. Maybe when I go to the US, I can then use this there. Google Chromecast is getting even more impressive. One can now play simple multi player games using the phone as a remote and the TV as the monitor through Chromecast. Chromecast Aims To Be The Focal Point Of Family Games Night With New Apps - 12 Nov 2014 Also, one can add in Google Cast and VideoStream as extensions to the Google Chrome web browser. This then allows one to very simply show what one is viewing in Chrome on the TV. With Videostream, one can stream full length movies from the PC or laptop direct to the TV with almost no additional effort. Best place to buy Google Chromecast is from Amazon as they now ship to Singapore. If you buy over US$125 worth of goods, delivery is free.

Spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out how to divert calls on iPhone when it is not answered. iPhone only provide the super basic feature of either diverting all calls or not. It does not provide any conditions for the call divert.
Am very used to Android phones which have this quite basic feature. Eventually found out that this feature is not provided by iPhone but by the telcos. For Singtel, the codes are below for my future reference.
To activate call divert when not answered, go to the Phone app and then choose Keypad. Then press: *61*[phone number]# and finally press the green Call button as if you were making a normal phone call. For example, if you want to divert your iPhone calls to 6222 3333 if it is not answered, you make a call to *61*62223333#
To cancel call divert, call this number: ##61#

I bought a few of these for $29 each when Challenger was having a sale. Surprisingly for the price, these are good IP cameras and very easy to install and use. In the past, I had to configure lots of things to be able to view these cameras via internet. With this DLink, everything has already been pre programmed and one simply needs to run a program that will identify it (once the camera has been linked to your home network) and then hook it up to myDlink.com. The downside is that the video is just 640 by 480, but this is more than adequate for my requirement. The sound too is a little muffled but since I use it mainly for the video, I am OK with this. Another issue is the green light that appears in front of the camera which I had to use some blue tack to cover the light. The major downside is that this is the cheapest in the DLink range of IP cameras and this camera cannot work in the dark. I use these cameras in the common areas in my house while the standard CCTV cameras cover the outside of the house. As D-Link uses its own proprietary software, it is does not support the Onvif format for CCTV. If it did, it would have been much better. As such, I had to use different viewers for the CCTV and the DLink cameras. The PC application that I use to view the DLink cameras is IP Camera Viewer ( www.deskshare.com/ip-camera-viewer.aspx ) as I don't like the DLink software for PCs. If you want to try your hand at setting up an internet enabled IP camera, I will certainly recommend this. I think Challenger is currently selling this for $39 each. www.dlink.com.sg/product/dcs-930l-mydlinktm-wireless-ip-camera/

zuolun , interestingly, one of my backup PCs also crashed today. This was running Windows XP and yes, it was time to change it anyway. Sadly, nothing much can be salvaged as technology has advanced so much since then. Previously, I bought DIY PCs from Sim Lim but my favourite shop for this has since closed down. Now, it is probably cheaper to buy from Dell and I am thinking of either the Inspiron Desktop or the Inspiron Small Desktop. With the current Sitex offer, both are the same price at $599. My preference is the standard size PC as it allows for more harddisk and memory expansion. My main PCs are running Intel's i5 processors but an i3 processor is more than adequate. In case you are wondering, I am seldom up at this time of the day.... just that I slept too much the night before! oldman, My old grandfather's notebook PC was purchased > 6 years ago, it's still running fine on Intel Pentium processor to-date. The other 2 newer notebook PCs which crashed yesterday are running on i3 and i5 processors, the latter is still under warranty until end-April 2015. zuolun , interestingly, one of my backup PCs also crashed today. I hate paying Singtel $5 a month for caller ID services. Instead, what I do is to divert all unanswered calls ( more than 20 sec ringing) to a pfingo Singapore number ( www.pfingo.com/pf/portal/control/storeservice ) at $2 a month. When a caller rings my handphone number and cannot get through, it will then be connected to the pfingo Singapore number which will immediately send me an email with the caller ID number. Yes, the pfingo Singapore number is also a fax number and anyone who sends a fax to that number will result in an email to me with the pdf version of that fax. Sometimes folks still like to send me faxes and rather than have a physical fax machine, I just ask them to send to this pfingo Singapore number instead. Finally, the pfingo application also allows me to send faxes to others and this is why I usually have some credit in my pfingo account. Good thing is that these credits currently do not expire and I have these from 5 years ago. Pfingo is part of Starhub. I have been DIY on PC and have never purchase a branded PC. However, 2 years ago, I have given up on PC DIY as it is no longer economical to do so. Laptops dont cost as much in those days. I recalled purchasing my first entry level laptop at S$3,600 at 11 years ago. Now, a good laptop which can fulfill most of the functions can be obtained at less than S$1,000. With small laptop with detachable tablet, it is worthwhile to get these innovations. oldman, My old grandfather's notebook PC was purchased > 6 years ago, it's still running fine on Intel Pentium processor to-date.
