We were in NTUC Westgate this afternoon and when we finished paying for our groceries, a guy approached us and told us that our NTUC loyalty card, the Pluscard, is being replaced. He then led us to a booth with lots of other people 'replacing' their cards.
He then asked me to sign some forms for the 'replacement' of the card. The process only took a minute or so and he then handed me back my NTUC Pluscard and then told me that it can still be used. Only then did I realise what was happening. Instead of asking whether we are interested in applying for a VISA card, he took the easy way out and told us that he is replacing the old cards with a new one.
Even more interesting is that he left us a calling card and he is a team manager working for OCBC Bank! I was speechless.

Those people are the ocbc credit card team.
They told me the same thing about my plus debit card and bought me to sign up the credit card.
Eventually, I never activate the Plus Credit Card until I decided to open a 360 OCBC Account.
One thing to note is that, even if you don't activate the card, after the 2 or 3 years of card fee wavier, you will still be charged.
The next best thing to do if you don't want the card is to call and cancel it.

You are right. I altered the last paragraph of my original posting when I looked at the calling card he left me. I still cannot believe that they are getting people to sign up this way. I see lots of old uncles and aunties in the booth - probably thinking that they are just replacing their old loyalty cards. Those people are the ocbc credit card team. They told me the same thing about my plus debit card and bought me to sign up the credit card. Eventually, I never activate the Plus Credit Card until I decided to open a 360 OCBC Account. My version told me my debit card will be replaced by the credit card and the amount will be refunded back to me.
When I activated the credit card for the 3.05% bonus interest, then i realised that both card can be used at the same time.
Hmm..should i rant about those people in the bank and how they don't know their products?
