This poor girl was fined $400/= for using socket outlet to charge her handphone in MRT and in the other instance, someone was left off for doing the same. How much charging handphone will cost LTA and SMART? Even if LTA and SMRT cannot offer this handphone charging as a free service to the commuters, they should only give a warning to the girl. Understand the girl is from a poor family, working to support herself. It will cast bad memory when growing up and put in record that she has been fined by the court. Have LTA and SMART think about the consequences, the impact to the society. Everything must be fine fine fine. www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/singapore/story/penalties-flouting-mrt-rules-under-review-20140125

I too think that this is very unfair. If there was an available power plug in an airport, most of us will not hesitate to use this. There are usually no markings there that these can be used. With this ruling, no one will dare use any power sockets anywhere. Most illogical. Anyway, how much power can one draw by charging a phone? A few milli-cents at the very most. I feel even worse that she is from a poor family. She must have gone through so much unnecessary worry over such a trivial matter. If you know her, let me know as I like to help her with the fine. Hi Oldman, thumb up for the kind offer. Most direct way to assist her is to call up Straits Times who has the resource to tap her information. I too think that this is very unfair. He might have valid reason for wanting to confront the other guy but he took the wrong decision to stop the guy in the middle of the road by driving dangerously. Understand that he also has another argument with the another lady driver. He would have a lot of explanation to do before the police can let him off the hook.
