Recently, I received a number of emails asking me to share more stocks in my portfolio. Below is an example of one such email.
Follks, the reason I share some of the stocks in my portfolio is to use these as examples of how I invest. I invested in Plato Capital because I believe in the entrepreneur behind the company. As for Powermatic Data Systems, this share gives a very good dividend yield which can be sustained because of its cash hoard. I like Isetan because it owns the atrium of Wisma Atria and I like the thought of owning a part of Orchard Road.
These examples show that I can have different reasons for investing in different stocks. But one common theme is that they all meet my investment criteria of undervalued assets before I start buying into them. These stocks that I mentioned in Pertama.com are still in my portfolio because my investment timeframe is usually measured in years.
By sharing these stocks, it already makes it harder for me to buy more of these stocks at a low price. Hence, I am most unlikely to be sharing any more stocks than I have already done... as these already make good examples to illustrate my investment strategy.
Private equity investors like me, make our money from our investments. We do a lot of hardwork before we invest in any company. We will certainly not want to share any more than we can... after all, investing for a living is our top priority and we will only try to educate others if this does not impact our top priority.
A quote from The Snowball:
“One day we saw that Warren was buying this Berkshire Hathaway,” he says. “And we started to buy.” On a trip to New York from their office in Connecticut they told him they were following him in the stock, “He got very upset. ‘Look,’ he said, ‘you’re riding on my coattails. That’s not right. Cut it out.’”

Hi Dr Leong,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts in Pertama.com. It is educational for me and I enjoyed reading the pros and cons presented by you and others.
To complete my educational process, please let me have one or two of the stocks in your present portfolio as well as one or two that is on your radar screen.
Many thanks again for your insight into how to achieve superior performance in the stock markets.
Best regards.
