I think they are making a simple toilet bowl far too complex. Looks nice but I doubt anyone will want to touch a toilet bowl before using it.....

Never knew about this until I started looking for a replacement TV. Technology really moves quite fast as I don't remember coming across refresh rates when I purchased my TV in 2009.

When the TV arrived today, I suddenly realised that I forgot to check the type of inputs available. There are lots more HDMI and USB ports but there was only one component port which is shared as a composite port as well. This means that one can only use a composite or a component port but not both. My previous TV had 2 component input ports as well as 3 composite ports. Looks like I have to upgrade a few more devices as well. Morale of the story: when you upgrade your TV, do check on the types of inputs available in the new set. This is a good overview of all the ports on a TV: lifehacker.com/5900500/is-there-anything-awesome-i-can-do-with-all-these-unused-ports-on-my-tvNever knew about this until I started looking for a replacement TV. Hi Oldman, Curious why you need to purchase iRobot Roomba since you have a Filipino maid to take care of the household chores.

When we bought the iRobot Romba 780 a few years back, it was more a novelty. But we were surprised at how good this is and every afternoon at 12 noon, it starts itself and roams around the 2nd floor where the bedrooms are. Good thing is that it is able to go underneath the beds and clean the floor there. It collects lots of dust and the wonderful thing about it is that when its battery is going to get flat (90 min later), it will look for its home base and then docks itself and recharges itself. Damn smart piece of technology and it works damn well. Only thing that we have to do is to empty the container every 3 days. This saves the maid some time to do other things. Also, I think it does a much better job at sweeping the floor and best thing is that it just does its job without guidance and will not complain or go on leave. We really cannot do without it now! It is so good that we are now thinking of getting a second one which can mop the wooden floor called iRobot Braava. There is another model called Scooba but this leaves quite a lot of water behind and this will spoil the wooden floor and is dangerous for the kids when they run around. If you ever were to buy, do consider buying the brushes and filters from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A77J8HM/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi Oldman, Indeed very impressive! Your maid is so lucky to find such a thoughtful employer. Heard lots of favourable reviews of iRobot Romba from my girl's classmates during one of the classmate's birthday party but heard mop version isn't as efficient. Sometimes, manual stuff works best if one prefers value for money. When we bought the iRobot Romba 780 a few years back, it was more a novelty. Amazon is incredibly efficient. They sent me the iRobot filters and brushes within 1 week of ordering this! Even more incredible, the delivery is free. Looks like I will be shopping for even more things on Amazon.com. I am having fun with the stuff I just got from Amazon this afternoon. Am impressed that it was delivered on a Sunday by UPS. Total delivery time is just 16 days from ordering it from the US. Best is that delivery is free. The IT gadgets that was in this package included the latest Samsung skype TV camera. Basically, one connects this to the Samsung Smart TV and it enables Skype video as well as the hand gesture feature of Samsung TVs. Yes, instead of paying a lot more for Samsung TVs with this feature, I bought this attachment that does the same thing and better still, gives full 1080 HD resolution instead of the lower resolution of the current TVs sold in Singapore. Even better it only cost US$70 and is transferable. I also bought a logitech wireless keyboard to attach to the smart TV. This cost US$28 compared to over $50 here in Singapore. Now, I can surf the internet on a large screen TV easily. I am now waiting for my second package from Amazon which includes the ASUS RT-N66U router which cost US$125 compared to $209 here. Will also be be waiting for some replacement filters and brushes for my iRobot Roomba which is significantly cheaper than over here. It is wonderful to shop through the internet. I really pity our local retailers. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ISJO088/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DKZTMG/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1

Hi Oldman, you are an amazing hands-on millionaire (or perhaps billionaire). Besides investing strategies, you are sharing very practical tips to save the nitty gritty stuff. Maybe you could sub-contract your service to fellow forumers who are not technology savvy. My CCTV recorder was restarting every hour and I decided to get another one from AliExpress. If I called the CCTV company, they would have charged me $50 for the house call and on top of that, I have to pay for any parts that they replaced. Buying it directly from China costed me US$62 and it is a much better recorder with all the new features incorporated. I am still learning about the features and am impressed that setting up a CCTV system nowadays is really straight forward. No wonder prices for installation of CCTVs have gone down so much over the years to be more like a commodity rather than a systems integration effort in the past. Yes, not an easy business to do given the plug and play capabilities nowadays. The delivery from China was also very prompt. 2 weeks after ordering, the CCTV recorder arrived. www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-8-channel-H-264-standalone-dvr/476422985.html
