Bought an iPhone 6 plus for my wife. Given all the talk about how bendable this phone is as well as how easily the screen breaks, I purchased the Singel MobileSwop plan with the phone. This is a like an insurance plan. Cost $8 a month and one can stop this anytime. My understanding is that if there is any damage to the phone, Singtel will repair the damage free of charge. If you feel that the damage is significant enough, you can ask for a swop and they will give you a new phone if one pays an additional $150. Hence, if one drops the phone and the screen cracks, one just needs to pay $150 more and get a new iPhone 6 plus. If one loses the phone, he needs to pay an additional $450 and Singtel will give him a new iPhone 6 plus. The sales guy told me that no reason needs to be given for the loss of the phone... ie, one does not need to make a police report to claim that the phone was lost. This certainly is an interesting insurance plan for phones. For those who like a bigger screen and like the iPhone 6 plus but are worried about the bad press on this phone, this may be a logical option to consider.

I do not think it is so simple. This rule of exchange is subject to abuse. I can report lose and get another one with small fee for free. It is too good to be true.

Yes, I was equally surprised but this is what I was told. No need for documentary proof for lost phone. Next time you buy a new phone, do ask about this insurance plan. I was told that Starhub offers something similar. Some Q&A found here: www.facebook.com/singtel/photos/a.447079406676.267707.28011986676/10153069514351677/?type=1In it, they state that the replacement may be a similar reconditioned phone but the salesman told me that this is usually a new phone. I do not think it is so simple. This rule of exchange is subject to abuse. I can report lose and get another one with small fee for free. It is too good to be true.

Was faced with an interesting issue this afternoon. When someone calls my daughter's iPhone, both her phone and my wife's iPhone rings together. When someone calls my wife's handphone, only her handphone rings.
Even more interesting is that my daughter is on M1 and my wife is on Singtel. But they share the same Apple ID. Usually when such things happen, I like to think hard about it but for this case, I don't even know where to start looking!
So, I called the M1 helpdesk and the lady told me that it has to do with the FaceTime setting in both the iPhone. As they share the same apple ID, somehow with M1, both phones will ring! We were then asked to disable the iphone cellular calls under FaceTime and this then sorted out the problem.
Interestingly, Singtel does not have this issue.
Guess for those who like 2 phones to ring on one number, this may be a solution! But the thought itself is scary that an apple ID on an iPhone can connect 2 phones from 2 different telcos together.

My daughter accidentally dropped her iPhone 5s into some water and rushed her phone to me as she remembered that I too did the same thing to my phone a year ago. Fortunately, I have bought the iPhone opening tools from aliexpress.com some time ago. Am also very thankful to youtube for the video below. After opening up, I had to soak the droplets of water and then, take a hair dryer to really vapourise any left over water droplets. Thank goodness that her phone is working normally again. Guess, like many things in life, it is all about timing. If she did not pass her phone to me promptly, I doubt I could have resuscitated her phone.
