When I compared the compatible toner with the original, they were different in many ways. Yes, the housing is a little different but it fits very well into the printer. Hence, I knew that it was not a refurbished one. Printing wise, it is not as sharp as the original but certainly up to standard. I also asked about the chip and he told me that this one allows unlimited printing. Nothing needs to be done with the printer. Just insert the toner cartridge and the printer will recognise. He is correct. Separately, I asked him if he sells chips that I can simply attach to the existing toner cartridge and he said that it is not worth my while as it cost $45 with a bottle of toner and the chip. Might as well just buy the compatible.

Skype is driving me up the wall. They decided to suspend my account - no reasons given... maybe because I have not used it for a long long time. Problem is that I have put some money into the account some years back as I wanted to test out some of their features. To reset my account, these are some of the questions they ask: Q.If you used a credit card, please provide any two of the first six digits of the credit card number and any two of the last four digits of the credit card number. .... good gracious. Who can remember which credit card and the credit card numbers from a few years back! Q. When did you create your Skype account (mm/yy)? ..... who on earth can remember! Q. On what date did you place the recent order (dd/mm/yy)? ...... that was a few years ago !!! Did a google search and I am not alone. ----------- If some questions are reasonable, some are really dumb, for example, I possessed about 9 euro credit, purchased more than four years ago and never consumed, how could I remember the order number and purchase date of that credit, made certainly with a credit card in the meantime expired? But the funniest of all is the date of the account creation: I signed up on skype at the beginning of the service, in 2003, how could I remember the exact month and year of registration? According to the Skype support, going to check the email confirming the registration. As if I was saving all my emails of the last 10 years.www.virtualtothecore.com/en/skype-suspended-accounts-and-its-stupid-security-rules/

A good place to check your internet connectivity is this site. My starhub 100 Mbps plan sometimes only delivers 10 Mbps...... I called Starhub and since then, the performance has improved but still unpredictable. www.speedtest.net/

One of my email accounts have received a number of such emails stating that I have made an online order and wants me to open the attachment. Good thing about the internet is that one can do a search of the contents of the email to see if it is genuine or not. I don't open email attachments unless I am expecting these. Good advice for those of us facing this issue. I tried option 2 and it worked so far. I recall trying option 1 before but my Starhub broadband setup did not like that change after a few days. Fixing "Resolving Host" Issue in Google Chrome

All my monitors have always been Dell monitors as I was told some time ago by a Dell representative that they give 3 year warranties. What I did not realise is that the new Dell monitors only give 1 year of warranty. One of my Dell monitors broke down this morning and when I called their support line, they asked me to look for some numbers that is only found on the box. Apparently, if one buys their monitors from third party retailers, we are supposed to keep the box! The serial number on the monitor is of no use. Moreover, the support guy then told me that the monitor is usually only guaranteed for 1 year. As my monitor is 1 year and 1 month, the warranty has expired anyway. Well, it looks like I will not be buying any more Dell monitors. Real pity having to throw away a 23 inch monitor because of poor quality. Sadly, I no longer have a good impression of Dell. PS - Just bought this 23in Acer monitor for $199 to replace the Dell. If you are a HomeClub member, delivery is free for products over $100. Thank goodness for internet shopping. www.courts.com.sg/Products/PID-IP069469(Courts)/Computers/LCD-Monitors/ACER-23IN-LED-MONITOR-G236HL

I use Starhub to connect to the internet through their cable broadband service. The default modem is the Cisco DPC3925. Every few hours, it will lose the signal and reconnect. I have been on the line with Starhub engineers for a few times already and they cannot really help me apart from offering to change the modem. After reading internet reviews on this modem, I realised that others too face similar issues with this modem. It appears that the modem is of good quality but the integrated router may have issues. I then connected a gigabyte switch to this router modem and then channel all the network traffic through this switch instead. Connected to this switch are routers for each floor in the house. So far, the modem has not dropped any connection since. Yes, sometimes the best technical advice comes from the internet and not from the support line. www.amazon.com/Cisco-DPC3925-Wireless-Router-802-11n/product-reviews/B00A03IN0G
